  • How do I care for my glasses?
To best take care of your glasses, use a soft cloth to clean them gently so they stay clear. It is not recommended to use alcohol on the lenses. Keep them in a glasses case when you are not wearing them to protect them from scratches. If they get loose or uncomfortable, visit the office for adjustments. As a VIEW patient, you get a one-year of complementary adjustments, lens cleanings, and a one-year bumper-to-bumper warranty on all lenses and frames.
  • How do I care for my contact lenses?
To best take care of your contact lenses, always wash your hands with soap and water before touching them. Keep your contact lenses in their case with an approved solution when you’re not wearing them, do not sleep in them, and never share them with friends. Remember to visit the eye doctor regularly to make sure your eyes stay healthy and happy! During your contact lens examinations, our doctors will provide individualized instructions to you regarding care for your specific lenses.
  • What should I bring to my first appointment?
For your first appointment, it is helpful if you bring any glasses or contact lenses that you currently use. Also, bring a list of medications you take and be ready to share your family’s eye history. Don’t forget to bring any insurance cards or information. We look forward to welcoming you into our office and providing a warm and caring environment for you to ask questions about your eyes and leave feeling confident in your eye health.
  • Do you accept insurance plans?
We accept most major medical insurance help and can help you utilize any vision plan benefits you may have. VIEW Temple operates as an Open Access business, meaning that we are able to provide care for members of any insurance plan. Just because our services may be out of network for you does not mean your insurance will not cover them. We are committed to providing you with the best services and products while helping you use any benefits provided to you through your insurance provider. VIEW Temple accepts FSA or HSA to buy sunglasses, eyeglasses, lenses, or ophthalmologic products in-store and online. If you are unsure whether or not you have an FSA or HSA account, please check with your employer or insurance carrier.

  • Do you provide emergency eye care services?
If you have an emergency with your eyes, call our office right away so we can schedule an appointment and take care of your eye health! Do not try to fix the problem yourself. It is best to come into our office for any eye problem rather than visiting the emergency room or urgent care so we can ensure you get the right care for your eyes.
  • How often should I have an eye exam?
It is good to have your eyes checked by the eye doctor at least once a year to make sure they are healthy. Your exam not only helps you see well but can catch any problems early to prevent vision loss later. If you ever notice your eyes feeling funny or if things look blurry, visit your eye doctor as soon as possible.
  • When should my child have their first eye exam?
It is important not to delay eye exams for young infants and children because some early eye problems can affect vision for life. Between the ages of 3 and 5, every child should have a thorough, in-person eye examination to make sure his or her vision is developing properly and there is no evidence of eye disease. With today’s diagnostic equipment, a child does not have to know the alphabet or how to read to have their eyes examined.
  • Is a vision screening the same as an eye exam?
It is important to know that a vision screening is not the same as a comprehensive vision exam. Vision screenings are a limited process and cannot be used to diagnose an eye or vision problem but rather to indicate a potential need for further evaluation. Pediatricians and schools provide vision screenings. Although these are great, they may miss as many as 60% of children with vision problems.
  • If I have diabetes, how often should I get my eyes checked? How does diabetes affect the eyes?
Diabetes can cause the blood vessels in your eyes to leak blood or the tissues in your eyes to swell. Often, this happens before you notice any symptoms, so the American Diabetes Association recommends that individuals with diabetes have their eyes checked with a retinal examination at least once per year. If you have diabetes and your eyes begin to feel blurry, or it becomes hard to see, let your eye doctor know as soon as possible so they can see you for an examination. It is important to control your blood sugar levels to help keep your eyes healthy.
  • What should I expect during an eye exam?
Our eye exams at VIEW go to the next level to provide exceptional care beyond the norm. We use the latest technology to evaluate your ocular health and screen for any eye diseases. We are dedicated to helping you VIEW life more clearly!
  • What are the signs of an eye infection or injury?
If your eyes feel itchy, watery, or hurt - it could be a sign of an infection or injury, so schedule an appointment with your eye doctor. Also, if you see redness and swelling or have trouble seeing things clearly, it is important to be seen by your eye doctor. Never rub your eyes a lot if they hurt, and do not put anything in them that is not prescribed by your eye doctor.
